Aims of establishment
This center was established with the following goals: to create and develop new research and academic field integrating medical Big Data, including genomic data, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and computational science, as well as to promote a healthy long life expectancy society model by returning the outcomes of research to society, and using these to realize an ultra-smart healthcare system in the super-aging society and sustainable community health ecosystems.
Achievements to date and background of establishment
Of the various centers in the area of medicine and public health research, the Brain/Liver Interface Medicine Research Center established in April 2011 has been investigating the pathologies and causes of adult and older adult-phase diseases via multiple academic approaches centered on but not limited to the brain and liver over six years since its establishment. In April 2017, the same center was closed for restructuring and integrated in the Advanced Preventive Medical Sciences Research Center, which is a joint education-research center in the university for reinforcing the functions of the Advanced Preventive Medical Sciences Research Center. The Wellness Promotion Science Center, which was established in April 2009, researched wellness-promoting science in collaboration with the community and continued to support wellness-promoting behaviors based on scientific evidence before being closed in March 2019.
The Society 5.0 Era Healthcare System, which began to be proposed in 2018, aims to improve quality of life using cutting-edge IT such as AI and Internet of Things (IoT) to process health data, activity data, medical and long-term care data throughout the life course from an individual’s birth to death, as well as individual genomic and omics data. The AI Hospital Macrosignal Dynamics Research and Development Center (HMDRDC) aims to prolong long healthy life expectancy of Japanese nationals and the human race by improving the health of such individuals with a comprehensive system that treats previously refractory diseases by new methods while enabling pre-disease care and prognosis management through organic integration of AI, neurological and immunological networks. As such, the AI HMDRDC is a basic research organization that aims to realize Post-Society 5.0 healthcare for the future.
Project details
- Aim to establish an international base for establishing a sustainable global long healthy life expectancy society model common to the super-aging society of Japan and other countries in future.
- The strengths in research of the Advanced Preventive Medical Sciences Research Center (pre-disease, prevention) and various other centers will be synergistically combined for the robust promotion of co-research for “the establishment and social application of the ultra-smart eco-healthcare model” adapted for the super-aging Japanese society and similar situations in the near future of countries worldwide.
